1. Overview & Core Promise
BlueHollow Software develops Android applications, including ServiceVault and AbodeLedger. Our fundamental design philosophy is simple: your data belongs exclusively to you on your device.
Our applications operate without mandatory user accounts, cloud profiles, behavioral analytics, or third-party tracking scripts. We do not operate remote databases storing your vehicle maintenance records, receipts, household possessions, or photos.
2. Local-First Architecture
When you use ServiceVault or AbodeLedger:
- Local Storage: All database records, notes, maintenance logs, inventory entries, and document metadata remain inside the app’s secure, private sandbox on your Android device.
- On-Device Machine Learning: Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and barcode recognition run 100% on-device using bundled models. Images and scanned text are never uploaded to remote servers.
- Zero Behavioral Tracking: We do not track how you use the app or analyze your recorded assets.
3. Device Permissions & Media Handling
Our applications request Android system permissions only when you explicitly trigger a related action:
- Camera: Used exclusively when you choose to scan a barcode or capture a photo of an item, vehicle, or receipt. The camera is never accessed in the background.
- Photo & Document Pickers: We utilize Android’s permissionless system pickers. When you import an image or PDF, a sanitized private copy (with invasive GPS/exif metadata removed) is stored inside the app’s private sandbox. Your original files in the system photo library remain untouched.
- Notifications: Used only if you enable routine maintenance reminders or scheduled targets. Reminder checks run locally on your device.
4. Encrypted Portable Backups & Export
BlueHollow Software apps provide deliberate, user-controlled backup tools:
Backups are authenticated and encrypted using industry-standard cryptography (such as AES-256-GCM derived with Argon2id) using a password you provide. You choose where to save the backup file (local storage, external USB, or your preferred storage provider).
Important: Because encryption keys are derived on-device from your password, BlueHollow Software cannot recover or reset a forgotten backup password.
5. Google Play Billing & Pro Upgrades
If you purchase an optional lifetime Pro upgrade, the transaction is processed directly by Google Play Billing under Google’s Privacy Policy. BlueHollow Software does not operate payment servers and never receives your credit card or financial account numbers.
The app caches a local purchase verification token to ensure Pro features remain unlocked offline. No asset, vehicle, or inventory data is ever transmitted with billing queries.
6. Service Reminders
If enabled, notification alarms are evaluated locally by the Android operating system. No device tokens or scheduling data are sent to external notification dispatch services.
7. Support Communications
If you email us at bluehollowsoftware@gmail.com, we receive only the information you voluntarily provide (e.g. your email address, diagnostic descriptions, and attachments). This correspondence is used solely to assist you, resolve bugs, and improve the software. We never sell, rent, or monetize support correspondence.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Since data is stored locally, it remains on your device until you modify it, delete it, clear app storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app. Exported backups and CSV reports stored in your personal folders must be managed and deleted directly by you.
